I've only really watched the dubbed version, but I have 2 stars episodes in Japanese with subtitles. They're ok to watch but the subtitles don't seem to make much sense at times... you get the story ok but it can be a little annoying. The dub would be excellent if they hadn't made so many dumb changes *is obviously most upset about the change in Haruka and Michiru's relationship * Since most of the episodes haven't even aired in England, dubbed or otherwise, I really don't have much to compare... As far as I know, SM stopped airing here just after the introduction of Rini and I never saw her as Chibimoon

I havent watched any Ebglish dubbed after the R Season.. I want to watch Super Season in Japanese.. and its licensed, so I cant download it..

I think their relationship is totally ruined...Their relationship has got into a very deep level, yet it has turned..so wrong...cousins? I hate it when I visit sites that only have knowledge of Haruka and Michiru from the dubbed version and they stand by their view point of them being cousins so much, not taking in other opinions... how is it possible to make a site of the two..when more than half the stuff are changed? Same here in Australia..at least broadcasted for free in TV

It's actually worse that they made them cousins as it's obvious they are lovers so now they have introduced a whole new wrong aspect to it...

Dic Sailor Moon Changes There were a lot of changes in the DIC dub, one of the reasons it's called an adapation and not a translation. Nudity was basically avoided entirely. The senshi are nude when they transform, but DIC edited the breast and body lines out of the transformations in the dub. Panty shots of the senshi were also cut out. The level of the water in Serena's baths were raised. "Perversion" was also avoided. Rei's grandfather in the original anime is a pervert, which is still somewhat obvious in the dub, but he was toned down a lot in DiC SM. In Sailormoon R, Makoto says she should play the role of Snow White because she has the biggest breasts; DiC modified her statement to say that she had the most "talent". Acts of violence were cut: Sailormars and Sailormercury both slap Sailormoon in the original anime (to get her to snap out of her hysteria). Prince Endymion uses heavy physical force against Sailormoon when he is under Queen Beryl's control and even chokes her, but this was considerably edited in the dub. Chibi-usa in Sailormoon R pulls a gun out on Usagi, but in the dub, they just play the scene where she falls out of the scene backwards so she somehow summersaults back up into the air and disappears (this was EXTREMELY obvious...) Death was totally disregarded. In the original Japanese anime, the Sailor Senshi and Mamoru all die during the battle with Queen Beryl over the course of two episodes; in the dub, however, all death scenes were cut out and the two episodes were compiled into one, "Day of Destiny". The scouts did not "die" but rather were "kidnapped" by the Negaverse. Several episodes were left out for a variety of reasons. In one episode, Usagi transforms herself into an adult in order to sneak into a bar to follow after a piano player. In another episode, Umino and Usagi's male classmates become possessed by a youma disgusing herself as a fortuneteller; they become rude and obnoxious, vandalizing property and flipping up Haruna-sensei's skirt to reveal her panties. Other episodes that did not directly affect the story were also left out- Minako's past as Sailor V, the senshi's vacation in R. Characters were changed in personality. Many people feel that Mina is an airhead with no personality, partially due to the fact that DiC left out the important Sailor V episode which would have developed her character. Raye becomes a lot meaner in the dub and does some rather suspicious acts; in the original, for instance, Sailormoon gives Mars her Moon Stick, which is supposed to show the other senshi that Moon trusts Mars, but in the dub, Mars says she "found" the Crescent Moon Wand that Serena "accidentally" left behind. Rini is a pretty big brat in the dub too. I personally found most of the characters to be more annoying over all. Zoicite also had a sex change- he is supposed to be male, but since he and Kunzite are male lovers, he become a rather flat woman. Dialogue and the entire story was changed, but I really don't know why. Attack names and powers were changed; again, I don't know why, since in the original Japanese anime, all the transformation phrases and attack names are in English to begin with. Originally, to make Sailor Moon more "safe" or "moral", I guess, a "Sailor Says" was tacked on at the end of every episode saying some silly, cliche lesson of the day, like "Eat healthy" or "Don't do crazy diets" or "Be nice to everyone". This was NOT in the original anime at all. Source: eternalsailormoon.org/world/nasm/nasm3.htmlI thought that was a good read, and decided to share it with you guys.

lol I've read lots of that before - I didn't know the thing about the moon stick though... I probably saw it when I watched the dub a while back, but my memory's going in my old age. I saw one of the sailorenergy pictures where Rei was having a fit over the dub about her 'finding' the moon stick, but I didn't get it. Now I do! lol Another of the missing episodes was one where we learn that Sammy is scared of cats - it was cut because of a scene where he kicks Luna... I'd have thought they'd just have cut the scene - not the whole episode though. (Not a difference, but an interesting fact nonetheless...) There are lots more too... Random facts from imdb.com, which is an American site so is using the dubs point of view (it talks about the Sailor Says bits and uses the NA episode names rather than the Japanese...

hmm.. I guess its understandable to a certain extent why certain parts were changed or removed in the dub- the English audience doesnt seem to be as mature as the Japanese at their age ..>.> Cause we gotta remember that Sailormoon was targetted at a young audience, but there just isnt any censoring in nudity/adult material/violence etc in Japan..somewhat proves something..

The Japanese audience it was targeted at wasn't as young as the American audience it was made for. It says 'teenagers' but that could be 13 or 18! I doubt it was made for older teenagers because there are scenes that makes even me roll my eyes.... their fluffy fuzzy 'finding the power in their own hearts' etc..... Having read over some of those again, I would love to see Luna toss a cute animal over a fence! It sounds hilarious!

I was looking at some screen caps, and realised something they cut off in the dub in episode 24. The part where Nephrite appears in Naru's room and searches the crystal as she is sleeping~ in the dub, it just shows her in her PJs under her blanket, whereas in the original she appears naked.

So they added PJ's in afterwards? *Gasp* lol, it's one thing to cut and change dialogue / stories, but to actually alter the original work? Can they even do that?

na... they arent that good as to create new clothing for her ^^; The original shows Naru in bed, then without blanket, then naked.. so they just cut off the last part.

I (like most people i think) started watching the DiC dubs many many years ago, i admit it got me hooked but after watching all the originals i could never go back...
I do however think that the dubs in S and SuperS were better than the DiC dubs of the first two seasons, despite the fact of some crucial plot elements being taken out or changed.
Don't think that they should dub the stars season though. There would be way too much to edit and i think thats why it is being left as it is without being dubbed.

It depends who the target audience is though... if they intend it for an older audience (i.e they believe its for mature audiences) they can always put it on a different time..like around 8.30pm or something.. ^^;;
