For a while, I thought it was Helios (reference to the Sun)~ and we all know how much Takeuchi is into astrology. But then I heard the Chinese version, and it sounds like "Elios" as well as the Japanese.. but I could be hearing things.. or they may not be pronouncing it correctly. What do you think, and why?

hehe... I dunno... I haven't seen him yet, but I read about him and the spelling changes a lot... The spelling of lots of characters names changes though... Eudial/Eugial, Kaorinite/Kaori Knight, Kaioh Michiru/Kaiou Michiru and there are various ways I've seen of spelling 'Tenoh'... some with double 'n' etc...
I would have thought 'Helios', with the sun reference as the rest of the senshi are intertwined with their mythological counterparts...

I beleive his name is Helios, on the new re-released Manga his name is written in englsih and its Helios, so I'm sticking with that.
Elios, is what some of the english voice actors called him too, they never said the 'H'

"Helios" They've said it on the subtitles...ooooor i could be seeing things I wouldnt rely on subtitles 100%... Subtitles can have the wrong spelling of names too..like once I watched an anime with the guy called "Yuuhi" and instead it said "Auhi" XD Then again, Helios would have more sense... but.. @_@

I'm not really sure, it probably can be either. The fact is just that in japanese, it's kinda hard to make the 'he' as in 'head' sound, so...it might sound like Elios. Though, that is probably a wrong statement. XD But, in the english dub, they actually say Helios. So, I'd kinda say it goes both ways. I think SC has a good point...it might be the name change is all...It kinda makes sense...

I voted for Elios because I think it sounds better…lol
The Japanese and Chinese language/word for the word Helios may be pronounced as “Elios”, doesn’t really have to sound like the English pronunciation.

Clarified! "It's actually supposed to be Helios, not Elios. The name is referring to the ancient Greek god Helios. Although some people say "Elios," that's incorrect. Think about it - Elios is not even a word, and certainly not a Greek god. Why use something that isn't even a word? It should be Helios. Nope, lots of people just say his name is "Elios," but they're incorrect. The reason is because the romanization (exact series of sounds of the katakana) of the characters that represent the name is Eriosu, but that is not the way it's meant to be spelled in ENGLISH. Sort of like how is romanized as Arutemisu, but it is spelled in English as Artemis. The katakana characters are romanized as Eriosu, but that set of characters is meant to represent the French word "Helios," in which the H is silent (unlike in the English word). Keep in mind that French words (as well as English words) are used ALL OVER the Japanese manga, so we end up with lots of both - such as in the name Perle (which is also the French word for pearl!) Alrighty, since that is clarified, lets use this topic to talk about Helios! I reckon he was a pretty cute character in SuperS ^^ He's so sweet, gentle, mature and caring. Its nice to see Chibiusa developing something with him, rather than her clinging onto Mamoru so much. What do u guys think of him? Dont ya all love the part where he kisses Chibiusa and his human form is shown? It was one of my fav scenes of Super S.. XD
When they showed a flashback of Helios in the past, did he not look girlie?

I really liked the flashback between him and Mamoru, it was one of the better scenes of SuperS. It was very mature and kind of gave more into Endymion's past and his purpose in life. Which was nice to see since, the only other time we got that was season 1 and R.
Helios was an okay character, I liked in the end his touching scene with him and Chibiusa and he finally calls her Chibiusa and not Chibimoon. But of course, the dub screwed it and...
Helios: MINIMOON! Rini: Helios.... you finally called me by my true name.
Wat!?
