I've always been wondering what Sera Myu was about. Has anyone seen it, or heard of it? Since Japanese people pronounce "Sailor Moon Musical" as " See raa moon Myuuzicaru", they took the first letter of katakana of each word (underlined) and call it "Sera Myu".

I own 5 preformances on VHS and one on DVD. They are really well done, sadly the outfits look horrid and the wings make them look tacky...
For anyone who has seen the Live Action, the actress of Naru Osaka played Ami/Sailor Mercury for 3 years in the Sera Myu.

So, its an actual stage performance? Since it's Musical, do they actually sing or something? What's the plot.. is it based on anything?

Yep, live stage musical. They sing and everything~ The main idea is based off the Manga/Anime but its changed alot.
Alot of the evil characters sing aswell and in one musical Petz is played by a man...

Are they basically just singing a song- or do the lyrics actually contribute to the storyline.. I can't imagine it XD
How many Acts are there in total? Has it finished?

They sing songs that are written for it, it all works together. And it has been going on since the first season of sailor moon and is STILL going on~

Wow..that actually sounds freaky..like some stage opera. Is it on TV in Japan or live? Like, is it only performed at one place a few times in case you've missed it? I think it's pretty cool how they promote Sailormoon

They have several shows a year, but it only plays in japan. You have to buy tickets and go to a theater, its just like any musical here.
Ands its not like there is only one version, there has been like over 100 diffrent stories and over 500 preformancing.

How do the attack s and stuff work? I take it as they are already transformed while in stage?
Does that mean the actors/actressess have to know how to sing?

1. They use lighting and sound effects for the attacks, plus smoke and sparks.
2. When the characters henshin, the actress run off stage, the giant screen plays either animated or live action type transfomations. Which last long enough for the actress to change cloths.
3. Yes, they need to know how to sing, dance, wire work and some fighting skills.

Wow..that like awesome...lots of effort for Rehearsal, making it as involving as possible. I'd love to see what it's like. So are the trasformations the same each time? Do they ever change actressess/actors half way through performances..cos if they do, wouldn't that be odd if people can't recognise them? lol..does that look very weird? It reminds me of Shakepeare plays where all the females characters are played by men.

Lots of work is put into it. Um... the change the actress every couple of years and only Chibiusa has to actress one plays Chibiusa and the other plays Chibi Moon. And it dosn't matter if they are diffrent actress, you can tell who they are by their anime like wigs.
The transformations change for if they have new actresses or outfits. And the male Petz was funny... sadly he looked so much like a girl it worked.

I've heard of SeraMyu before... The actress Nao Takagi who played Uranus for years is amazing... and Yukha was the best Neptune... they have great chemistry and stage presence and Nao has a beautiful voice... I'm not sure about Yukha but Nao has left having said that, I've never seen a SeraMyu performance, just clips and downloaded songs. There was a great site called SeraMyu Antics but I an't seem to access it anymore...
