interesting... that law of equivalent trade doesn't seem to always hold true for me. The Homunculus said that since they gave Ed clues to the stone, he must use it to make them human when he gets it ie it's equivalent trade - although he doesn't have to... Ed lost his arm and leg while trying to transmute his mother... but nothing was gained... that isn't really equivalent trade if you lost something but gained nothing... it's strange how the whole stone is so hard to find/make when the incomplete stone seems to be everywhere.

no, something was gained, it showed in one of the episodes that they actually succeded in bringing their mom back when he lost his arm and leg and al lost his body, but she wasn't human, she was just a pile of skin.

Yeah, something was gained. Not only the thing that was the failed transmute of their mother, but also something else. Not a physcial thing, but mental...er, yeah. At least, that's what it is in the manga.

yeh..they didn't mention it but i actually agree with both belldandy and danstu and CI lyk after he gave his limbs and stuff they dhould at least have lyk half of the body or soemthing since after all it WAS flesh and bones...but then they DID gain soemthing but something that wasn't equal with the limbs and a whole body~~ so yeh i agree with both on half side i reckon that 'pile of skin' was so scary...wen i first saw it my heart skippped 1? 2? 3? beats....and when ed was screaming it made me more alert....scary....

? Then again, that "kid" stole the arm and leg so.... it wasn't really a cost for the transmutation... or was it? Since Ed and A's mother was transmuted she must also be a Homunculus. I see a woman who every now and then hangs around the other Homunculus who also seems to look like her...

Hagaren is now my current favourite. Partly cuz of it's really evil antagonists and the humour. I have already seen the anime and read up till chap. 42 of the manga. I wish they made more episodes of the anime and I just can't wait for the movie! I can't read the manga on Anime Source anymore becouse it got lisenced to Viz. Does anyone know where i can read the manga of the internet? *SPOILER* I also don't see why they had to kill of Huges . I mean considering his fan base.

it's strange how the whole stone is so hard to find/make when the incomplete stone seems to be everywhere. There is no complete stone since the stone is madeby sacrificing humans - - more people sacrificed, bigger the stone.
Kind of like the speed of light really. You can get close to it, but you'll never reach it.

This anime series seems GREAT! Just seen the first 2 episode so far and it's quite addictive and packed with an interesting story line... the two boys are cute Al's voice makes him appear the gentle type. This anime really is heaps better than what t seems (from looking at pictures). I found this type of anime (alchemy stuff) quite fascinating cause the ideas appears different to other anime. There's probably more out there Im guessing, but this one is the first I've seen of this type. Villains look intersting too.

Yes.... Al and Ed are so cute (esp when they were younger) The two personalities are different, which makes it interesting to watch their interaction. The whole conflict about science and religion was interesting.. shows the creator did some research Can't wait to watch more ^_^

Full Metal Alchemist is one of the top anime of its generation. As I started the watch the series a second time, I began to realise how well the plot had been planned. (tips off hat to the FMA author) It's funny how Ed gets teased for being short :-).

i think the anime as Marcopolo said... relaly well planned and it's very balanced with the mood. Once it gets too serious, the author will make a little light entry to the scene. And all those rules of the alchemist is really interesting too.

heheh..*in love with FMA* The story gets more and more interesting (I recently bought figurines of Ed, Al and Winly ^^) Currently up to episode 7 I think, and I've already been sucked in since the first one. Im having high expectations from the anime, I hope its good til the end ^_^ Funny though..so far Ed and Al encounter little girls who seem to be very fond of them (but who wouldn't? ) EDIT: There seems to be a little pattern going on.. they always meet guys who seem like friendly normal people at first... who all turn out crazy murderers >.< There's always a little girl involved, and there's always someone dying.. It was so sad when Nina died like that That was soo horrible >.<

FMA is all about serious plot and drama the futher it gets in so if you're not liking Nina's fate then it ain't gonna get happier.
Very good alrounder show though, I have yet to hear of someone not liking it.
