Wow, this site looks really good. I think it's quite appropriate in "Eye Candy"

It kinda suits the topic of an artgallery, but as eyecandy excalty well debatable ^^;
But wow, it's been years since I've seen Bakaneko, good to see it's still alive. When you're first starting all tutorials are great. Becareful not to get too caught up with following them step by step though. Use them as guides not step by step instructions. I know from experience that if you get too caught up in drawing a perfect wireframe or contruction lines then you'll lose focus around your style. I'm sure the makers of the tutorial wouldn't want that either.

Yeh.. when I look at some drawing tutorials.. I never tend to follow step by step.. cause~everyone's style is different, and I like drawing them in a weird way (well.. not the way most artists draw).. Ok.. I dont like to draw strangely.. but I do.
They're a good guide though.. just makes you jealous at times when u see how awesome their works are compared to your own XD (and u know you'll never be just as good..lol..)

Ok, I have a question about drawing male characters... what is it about the face that distinguishes a male from a female, especially those bishies... It sounds a little odd, but I cant exactly figure out what the key point is in drawing a guy to look like one, and not a girl. the thicker eyebrows? longer nose? bigger mouth? XD

ehehe, in some cases, there is hardly a difference between shoujo and shonen (Yuki-kun!) but I guess guys faces are more defined... that is more 'pointed' (that's not the word I want but I can't think of it) and angular I guess... 'Most male eyes are more thin and narrow than female eyes, though there are several exceptions.' From www.cablenet.ne.jp/%7ejapanime/tutorial/eyesm.htmlThe lips are often... wider on male characters and you're right about longer noses etc... Hrm... I'm not being very good with words... Sorry if this isn't much help...

As Sailor Comet pointed out it's a matter of debate what distinguishes males and females often with shoujo. The easiest and most blantant way to just clearly state they are a male character. If you're having real trouble though and just want 'any' male face (like non-bishonen) then use sterotypes. Longer more squared jaws, short hair, eyes without eyelashes, longer ears, etc.
