Chapter 1: betrayal, love, death, rebirth
Summary:
The goddess Phoenix looked determined and brave. Her bright red hair swirled around her face and her light brown eyes flashed angrily. By sheer will power, she stood upright in tattered clothes, was bruised, beaten, cut and bleeding. She hated the traitor , Erupnu, whom she faced…, the one who had killed her family, friends , beloved and all the citizens of the planet and his laughter…it was a malicious, contemptuous sound that froze her to the bone.
She thrust her sword at him, he dodged. He shoved his sword at her maliciously and she twisted to the side, her slim body was very agile and that helped her avoid his attack. But she managed to cut his cheek and the moment she did that, she smelt his blood. The moment she caught the scent of his blood, she lost it, knocked him to the ground as he laughed.
Despite all the pain he dealt her, she takes her sword, forces his mouth open and she plunges it into his mouth, causing him to elicit a loud, deep howl of agony and blood bubbled from his mouth. She watched emotionlessly as he died.
"The blood of our bodies is a messenger..." she said, cryptically and darkly... “The human body may forget but their blood never forgets.” She coldly snarled at the dead body, who used to be her most trusted friend, now a dead traitor…with blood all over his face.
She cautiously gazed at her environment, staring at the hundreds of putrefying cadavers encircling her in its mass of blood and flesh in the courtyard that now held the heavy stench of blood, sadness and death…. And when she saw no more threats, she fell heavily to her knees, and cried bitterly… Her soul mate, Hydra, lay on the ground. His messy light silvery-blue hair was matted with blood and his skin was pale… his sapphire eyes had closed… forever. His corpse lay near her, with a sword in his lungs and in a pool of dark blood. She was despondent as she knew he was gone from her life forever…
She pulled his body from the blood it was in and laid his body upon her lap and kept crying… She then lifts her eyes to the sky “Why, destiny, why? I was tied to a crystalline pillar, beaten and bashed… and I had to watch my love, my soulmate, my lord Hydra…dying a slow and painful death by the hands of that… that traitor…”
"Hydra, why… why did you have to be killed? Please come back… please…please…. Come back… come back…" she yelled dropping to his knees. She wailed to the skies which had no reply for her. She felt so alone… and so sad…Her inconsolable howl ricocheted off the walls and surfaces of the now ruined palace until she felt like a mournful vortex. The princess’s hands covered her face and streams of despondent tears fell with abandon, her tightly closed lips falling apart in a twisted expression of misery. She wept and her mournful howls were deafening … louder than the shrieks of others in death.
She moved her dead lover’s body gently away from her and sighed…in loneliness, despair and sadness. She felt so much overwhelming sorrow and she couldn’t tolerate it anymore. "I'm tired of causing many innocents to be hurt and slaughtered…I can’t bear this pain, it is too much…" She said, sadly and stabbed herself in the stomach.
It was done with one rapid and lethal, elegant motion with her elaborate silvery-white long serrated sword that she just pulled out of the dead body of her lover… and fell forward, lifelessly, sideways onto the icy ,merciless ground with vacant eyes. Her hands reached out… and touched her soul mate’s face, and then they too fell, limply, onto the ground.
Her eyes deadened with the sluggish passing of life. Blood seeped out from beneath her slender form, coming from deep wounds. Her cheek rested on cold hard rock, the cool feel of it reducing the heat her body was emanating.
She knew she’d been fatally injured and was likely in shock, but she did not want to move. She could feel the chilliness of the freezing, hard earth under her and the diffusing warmth of her own blood. Everything, the ruins, the blood, the corpses were all engulfed in a warm light which consumed her and even her soul mate’s body too … She forgot all her pain… and was reborn as a personification of light. As for her lover, he too was reborn, but as the epitome of darkness.
