AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! THE FIRST EPISODE IS OUT!!!
btw. The subbing time depends on the determination of the fansubbers. For example... Naruto is subbed by various groups; one focus' on speed, while others on quality, and its upto fans to be the quality control...
I'll report soon, on how good it is...

lol I see. Are you downloading the Raw version of episode 1 at the moment? Hopefully there'll be a fansubber who focuses on both speed and quality.

I've finally watched the first episode of this new series ^^ Its a lot more detailed than the OVAs, as most of the whole episode revolved around Keiichi and his 'unlucky' day. This way we see more of his kind-hearted nature. In the OVAs, the first thing he does is call the wrong number; and Belldandy is introduced immediately. Here she comes right at the end of the episode. Some interesting add-ons were the fact Keiichi actually attempted to go out with Sayoko, and she comments on his height ^^;; A little slow for a beginning (since I've already watched the OVAs and knows what happens)~ cant wait to see the episodes after

I agree..I hope the latter episodes would be more interesting =D I haven't read any of the manga before, so I wouldn't really know what to expect : ) I was surprised that Keiichi liked Sayoko, because in the OVA, it was the other way around.

I was surprised that Keiichi liked Sayoko, because in the OVA, it was the other way around. hmm.. in the OVAs, I dont think Sayoko actually liked him.. She just wanted to be popular among the guys. Remember in the OVA where Urd gave Keiichi the love potion, making him fall in love with Sayoko? Her reactions dont convince anyone she loves him XD Anyhows, its because most of us have seen the OVAs; it makes us impatient (well, for me at least) cause we already know what happens at the beginning...

My turn to say something! LoL! ^^
Ah My Goddess was already a manga, OVA, also a spinoff Adventures of MiniGoddess and more recently a movie. I remember enjoying the OVAs very much three years ago when I first watched it. It's very important part of an Anime Watcher's MUST SEE list. This new TV series promises to be just as great as everything in AMG line has been.
The first episode was greeted with much anticipation by long-time fans. (How do I know? Because I am one of many excited long-time fans we've been waiting a long time for this...) Anyway, with the latest advances in digital animation, the characters still retain the same style as they've always had, being as arious as they are. The first episode includes insights into the life of Keiichi before Belldandy arrives through his mirror, the young man with the Star of Misfortune riding high about him.
I personally sympathise wth the poor guy (only because of the height thing).
I think this series will be much more satisfying then the OVA, providing us with greater detail into the little household we all know and love. I've yet to read the manga, and the OVAs are a distant blur to me, but! I think the series looks good, and worth any wait to see the TV version of this great title.
((I was under the influence of many strange phenomenas at the writing of this short review. The big ones being sugar and heat. I apologise if I've said anything stupid in this post. Good night!))

My opinions: As I thought, the drawing style used is Kosuke's most recent style (not easy to explain, but it's more familiar to me since the more recent manga use that style.) Some clothing is the same as ones in the movie and several references to the manga (which is great ) The part about asking Sayoko to the museum was in manga and in that suit too . Sayoko only wants K1 so Belldandy will leave ie her competition. (Since she was the campus queen because Bell arrived- also why lots of guys liked Sayoko.) Other scenes in the manga: * k1 stepping into the 'gutter'? and the girl who lost the wallet. Both happen later in the manga when Bell gets drunk from coke. Difference is it was Bell who met the girl and being drunk magically gave her all the wallets around the neighbourhood. As a triva the girl in the manga had pony tails so they changed the drawing in the tv series. *K1 was also racing around the campus on that tiny motor bike in the manga but against someone else who was also using the same vehicle... Mara's going to actually appear this time ^^ wonders what voice it will be... since... Indeed more detail and explains why Bell was sent to him. In the OVA, one might think after the first 5 minutes: :"Wha? That was a mistake right?" but here there's a "narrator" telling you everything. (wonders if she's a familiar character...) then again the ova had it's own little story that probably wasn't in the manga. The movie also had special effects for the parts of heaven but here it is totally different. All in all, I enjoyed it very much. Loved the music and the quality of the subtitles... couldn't ask for more. It really did focus on time and speed. Can't wait for the next episode. I wonder how Bell will react? the same way in the ova? or following the manga?: "Oh, NO!" *calls god* "It's about that last transfer. What? You mean it's final? Almight One! You can't--" *puts down phone* "Well, honestly!" I think it's gonna be like OVA ^^

Here are the screencaps from the opening sequence : D Source: www.goddess-project.net I watched the second episode last night, but not much has happened yet ^^;; Belldandy grants Keiichi his wish and they are sent out. They are unable to find a place to stay, so they stay in a car. That basically sums up the episode. There were parts of this episode which I found was better than in the OVA. Because if the greater explanation and slower pace, things are able to sink in. I also think the Keiichi is a nicer person here compared to the OVA (expanded in episode one) and Belldandy’s explanation of his care to his mechanical stuff which are non-living. This Keiichi seems to believe that Belldandy is a goddess more, compared to the OVA. I’m not sure because I’ve watched the English version of the OVA or if the original voices had the same tone or not, but I didn’t like it in the OVA when Keiichi was pointing and saying “I want a goddess like you to stay with me forever” (the tone was bad) Then saying something like “but I guess it’s not gonna come true because…,right?”(misquote) In the TV series, he was quite shy when he said it which I think it more believable and how Belldandy reacted afterwards compared to the OVA. Plus, it was Belldandy who suggested he could wish for money if he wanted to, but in the OVA, he imagined it himself. More screencaps of Episode 2: Other scenes in the manga: · k1 stepping into the 'gutter'? and the girl who lost the wallet. Both happen later in the manga when Bell gets drunk from coke. Difference is it was Bell who met the girl and being drunk magically gave her all the wallets around the neighbourhood. As a triva the girl in the manga had pony tails so they changed the drawing in the tv series. That’s what I was thinking to….lol

Nice pics DS!
Episode 2 was alright, im just surprised of how slow its moving XD In the OVA, episode 1 and 2 would happen in the first 5 minutes ..lol
Yes, I agree; Keiichi seems more likable here, than the OVA... we didnt even see in what ways he was kind-hearted anyway. >.> The OVA made him look like just some ordinary kid, who was somewhat perverted.. (not saying keiichi isn't perverted or normal....lol but he has other qualities too)
In episode two we get to see Hasgawa(sp) interact with Keiichi~ which would normally happen later on. She's funny...

Watching the TV series before the OVA's won't hurt really, they both take the same timelines after all. Though as mentioned the OVAs are alot faster paced. The interaction with Kei and Bell is nice and all but I was a bit dissapointed to learn that they'd be toning down the Urd and Skuld factor in place of it.

You mean they wont be as significant in the story? If so, thats kind a pity; since both of them are so interesting to watch...

It seems it'd be a while before Urd and Skuld arrive.... If only there's going to be more seasons will we see more of Urd and Skuld I think (fingers crossed ) More seasons mean we'll meet more characters: like Urd's mother, K1's parents, Chihiro, Lind and of course Demon Bell ^^ Trivia: During the opening theme, and the part when Mara appears (after the part with all the guys) the last "baddy" to appear after Mara (in the top left corner) only shows the hair of someone, not the face. Anyone know who it is? I have my guesses but can't be sure... if it really is her, we won't be seeing her in a while Urd only appears near the end of 2nd manga (english ver.) and at the rate the Tv is going... Urd might appear in ep 10 or later... Skuld even later... They actually follow the manga quite well, (then again, what would the story be about otherwise? of course they add some of their own things as well like the counting sheep in ep 3 reacting to K1's wish just like the manga calling God to confirm. They actually meet the owner of the temple, unlike the OVA where it's only a mention. The tv series, actually shows he giving them a fairwell, when in the manga he disappears the next day. Whether or not he saw everything that Bell did I'm not sure. Holy Bell also made a very early appearance which is nice The teachers are also given more attention while in the OVA they only appeared in the opening theme for a slight second. I like how it's going but yes, it will take a while going through manga 1 and 2 until Urd arrives. Until then it's just Bell and K1. (the OVA just zoomed through months and Urd came in ep 2! . Even I expected Bell and K1 to at least get to the temple by the end of ep 2 but.... ah wells )

*NEWS*The anime has been license at ep 6 meaning Solar fansubs will not be fansubbing any more and you cannot download the 1st 6 eps from them either. Fortunately AnimeYuki says they will continue fansubbing. However there is a little downside: comparing the 2 fansubs, both are quite good except in the AnimeYuki one the encoding seems to be having problems ie the quality is not as good. (The encoder is called ) Still I'm happy that I don't have to wait for the DVDs to come out (which will take ages). Not sure if any other groups are subbing it. If anyone knows any I'll probably have a look and see if the quality is better. Anyways, more comparisons of the TV series to the manga: They skipped the episode "SLP Camera - Mission Accomplised" from the manga (which is quite appropriate, but there's a slight chance might be shown later on. maybe In Episode 6 Megumi appears and the ep ends approximately the same time as the DH manga 1 (since scenes are shifted). Trivia: Megumi gives food to K1 and Bell instead of money. In Ep 7 Bell meets Aoshima and (of course with modifications) there's a scene from the end of manga 2. It's mixed in with a scene from manga 5. Anyways, from the preview it seems Urd and Skuld will making an appearance in ep 8 I don't think they'll be coming down together though. Look forward to it ^^

((thought it was a cute pic, so I decided to chuck it in here)) Nice to see noticing the difference between anime and manga. I tend to do that in the DNAngel or Fruits Basket topics ^^;; I wouldn’t know since I haven’t seen the manga b4. like the counting sheep in ep 3 That’s just odd…lol, Belldandy (referring to the goddess, not moderator ) doesn’t seem to get a lot of stuff ^^;; I thought that was very interesting. I actually don’t remember then mentioning the owner of the temple in OVA. I thought Bell just led them there cause she has been there before or something. Makes more sense there was an owner, and the temple wasn’t just deserted. I think the monk has really good spiritual powers if he was able to sense something from Belldandy..did he think she was a normal girl with high spiritual powers or something? I thought her appearance was cool ^^ Suits it more having her sing than just use her other magical powers. Which teachers are u referring to? Wow..def quick to get licences.. o.o I thought that episode 4 got a little more interesting, cos there’s so sort of conflict! ~ Sayoko..though I kinda feel sorry for her since there’s the coercive force in play. ..and of course the powers of the Goddess : ) ((Another cute pic ^^ )) I thought episode 5 was alright..I do feel sorry for Keiichi though..I think he’s so embarrassing..
