I think the anime and the manga have a educated sense in them, i personally learn alot from this anime. I really like tuoru she's a girl that only care about other ppl and only think about other people instead of herself.

I think that was the first thing that probably caught Kyou’s attention to Tohru, from the beginning, Tohru tells him (I think she does at least..lol. She tells Shigure, can’t remember if she told Kyou or not) how much she loved the cat from the animal zodiac. I think that must of left Kyou a deep impression of Tohru.
I’d definetly agree with you on this point. I found it very meaningful and touching- haven’t seen any other anime quite like it in that sense : ) *dumbs up for Fruits Basket *
That’s true..but that reminded me of the story that Momiji told (about the boy who only cared about other people, what did he get in return? A piece of paper that labeled him “baka”)) I found that kinda depressing..

Though we love her for that part of her personality, it is somewhat unrealistic. Humans are all born somewhat selfish (despite how much we try to think we're all nice)- so Tohru having that personality could be a good and a bad thing. In this case, she is admired by most (if not all the Sohma members) because of her kind and warm nature.
Could this suggest, someone like her is unlikely to exist in real life?

ah, unconditional love... we learned about that in Ethics lol... I think it's highly unlikely that a person like Tohru exists... but it's not an impossibility - lots of the things she does are to please her mother, or because her mother would have wanted her to... Anyway, I have been devouring FB, I got through volumes 2 and 3 today... but it'll be a while before I can go to Nottingham to buy more... maybe Monday (might be getting a new PC then though sooo...) I really enjoy reading the manga... it's so funny! My flatmates (and those darned invisible sheep) think I'm so weird, sat on my own in here giggling away to myself like some random nutjob...

but it's not an impossibility - lots of the things she does are to please her mother, or because her mother would have wanted her to... That would probably put a lot of pressure onto her; as her mother has many expectations in which she wants to be up to standards to.. lol... I wanna see your sheeps XD anyhows, we all experience that..lol... Once I brought my Inuyasha manga to school, and I was just giggling away~ when my friends are thinking "whats so funny?" ah yes.. we're all insane when it comes to manga XD I don't get how the Sohma family works... e.g How is Shigure related to Yuki for example?

I wasn't sure how (and I'm still not come to think of it), I was just like, ok they are all related... but their family is huuuuuuuuuuge! And wasn't Hatori going to marry Kana Sohma, even though they were related... I think this is a family you might want to avoid should they uproot and move to your neighbourhood...
hehe, my invisible sheep rule... I have a whole herd... they look at me with their eyebrows raised in a disapproving manner at time... they're such snobs... lol... and they communicate... by squirrel...
Well... she did... Most of the things I do (or rather, the things I don't do are down to the fact that my mum would kill me...

the sad thing...I'd say, is that Natsuki Takaya - the author, doesn't really have an 'ending'...at least not for the anime. The fact that neither Kyo or Yuki are said to be Tohru's boyfriend or something...or that the rest of the zodiac aren't shown. Luckily, I got to see all the eps. But, like I quote from Chibi Jen many times...time and time again.."where the anime stops, the manga continues."
Now, I kinda have to buy the manga so I can figure out what happens next. XD Though..does anyone know if there really is an official ending?

Hopefully the manga will have a complete ending, its usually the case for the manga ^_^ Even if it doesnt end completely, there's a lot more story for us to read about the characters The more the merrier ^^

In the manga I think we meet all of the Zodiac... They are up to volume 8 with English manga, right? I have the first 8 anyway... I don't know if the manga reveals who will be her boyfriend (if either of them)... but the bit in the manga when she sees the 'true' Kyo is really sweet... made me cry lol

Is this the part in Volume 6? If so… *anime spoiler * That’s actually the second and third last episodes of Fruits Basket in the anime!! They made Kyou are more significant character in the anime, giving him more attention : ) <P.s: Have you watched the anime of FB, SC?> I don't get how the Sohma family works... e.g How is Shigure related to Yuki for example? Its said in episode 1/volume 1 that Yuki and Shigure are cousins. “Are you all right Honda-san? My cousin didn’t do anything to you, did he?”-Yuki (from English version which I also collected J from Tokyo Pop) I’m assuming, otherwise stated, the Sohma members who are cursed are most likely to be cousins. I mean, how else can they be related? Maybe even distant relatives or something. !And wasn't Hatori going to marry Kana Sohma, even though they were related... I think this is a family you might want to avoid should they uproot and move to your neighbourhood... That’s another odd thing. Why is the huge Sohma family living together in that area? They did explain that the Sohma’s in the outer part of the Main house, don’t know about the curse, so Kana belongs somewhere there…. I think the manga isn’t finished yet?

I haven't... I think I am going to though, but it sounds a lot different to the manga... The 'true' kyo bit is less than half-way through the manga (aren't there supposed to be about 14 volumes, they're just not all published yet?).... I can't believe it took up 2 anime episodes... Kyo isn't my fave character, Yuki is and I prefer the Yuki/Akito story...
They were still related somehow (The thought of a huge village of inbreds scares me...) even if Kana didn't know about the curse (until it was too late) she would still know they were related - they had the same surname and living in the Sohma village-y thing... ah well... I guess it saves having to change your signature...

I’ve only collected up to Volume 6 and so far they have most of them turned into anime episode. I read a bit about Volume 7 and yup- it’s also in the anime. Or maybe it was one ^^;; but you can pretty guess what the anime ending would be like…further characters aren’t really explored anymore.

hehe, this is true... but Kagura is insane anyway, lol... she's so cool - I love her... Kyo doesn't feel the same way though, it seems... so I guess that redeems them, he sees sense... First rule of genetics! Spread the genes around!! (gotta love Eddie Izzard!)

Kagura is very random Thats the funny thing about Fruits Basket..everyone seems to have two faces (apart from Tohru, who has many i.e o.o XD..etc.) XD Am I making sense? Must be kinda strange to have these kind of relationships within family tho..
