Wheeeeeeee... I finished it all today, and it was really really good. The story was engaging the whole way and everything was cleverly planned.
I really recommend this!

I've first heard of this anime from Anime Conventions where there were people cosplaying as characters from Death Note (maybe about 2 years ago), but it wasn't until this holiday where I was looking for some series to watch that this anime came in mind, being recommending by many to be a worth-while series! I've just finished the anime series last night and the series has definitely met my expectations =) The creator is really clever...it makes you wonder who he came up with all of it ,so many unexpecting thing happen that keeps you watching. **contains spoilers from here onwards** At first it seems quite impossible to capture Kira who used the Death Note to kill people, but L ends up so close to finding out the truth!! My favourite character was L!! And I was so shocked and sad that he actually died T_T (and it wasn't near the final episode either, but episode 25! I didn't expect it at all because I always thought that L would fight and capture Kira until the end, and even if he had to die, it was necessary to capture Kira..I always thought that L would always come up with a plan and out-smart Kira, but there was no way he could avoid the death summoned by a Shinigami ='( Light is such a user!!!! He uses everyone around him, even his own father. After L's death I didn't feel like watching on, but I was curious to see how Light was going to be captured. I liked the references they made to L and I saw lots of resemblances of Near to L so I liked Near over Mello. End of SpoilersI'll probably watch the Live Action Movie tonight, simply out of curiosity ^^; I'm surprised that many here have said they enjoyed the movie because I've heard many Death Note fans say how bad the movie is...maybe there's some expections compared to the original..

wooty!! Screenies ^^ L is the bestest XD lol
The Live Action movie is far inferior to both the anime and manga. I watched both only for the sake of watching it as I was warned it's really dodgey- so i wanted to see HOW dodgey. It is dodgey. lol The only good thing about the movie is well.. L is there til the end, as oppose to only up to 3/4 into the story.
The ending of the anime makes you kind of feel sorry for Light, whereas the original intent (manga) was that he never had never given up till the very end of his life- getting so desperate as to ask Ryuk to kill them all too. I recommend you to read the ending of the manga to see what happens after his death =) There's a cute Mello reference too.

I read the manga and it was awesome. there's a new vol out (like last month) where it's an extra volume of all the characters' stats like their intelligence scale.
what surprised me was the agent that was stalking mikami was actually as smart as L

I watched the First Live Movie and I thought they did a good job in adapting the manga into a shortened live-movie. I think the changes were reasonable in shortening the screentime like Light having one girlfriend, not using a few and showing only one side of the story, e.g , there was no scene where Kira approached the FBI and 'proving' he was Kira before the train scene. Because for the first hour when the Investigation Team is talking to L thru the screen, we don't see the other side, i.e L (I wanted to see more of L..lol)..so I didn't find the first movie that appealing, esp already knowing what will happen. I hope Movie 2 will be more exciting =)
I'm not quite satisfied with how Light or his father looked ^^; They didn't really look , but Misa is very cute XD I liked how Ryuk turned out too!

Though, I like him and I'm interested in this extra volume you speak of

I just finished live Movie 2 and quite liked the adaption actually =) I loved the ending how it was merged with the ending of the anime/manga yet it was L who came up with the plan and not Mello/Near. I was actually thought something like the live ending would be the actual ending of the anime, i.e L captures Kira but L dies as a sacrifice in order to prove that Light is Kira.
Found some other interesting facts from Wikipedia:
I dunno how good this novel will be, but the more Death Note Stuff out there, the more to collect XD

If that new novel isn't by the original author, I'm wondering how good it would be.. Yes, the anime skips too much of Mello and Near, and made some changes I didn't like The latest animed tv special sounds really interesting! but I can't find it anywhere subbed
