Belldandy As a story character, Belldandy is truly unique. Her divine beauty and wisdom and her complete lack of a dark side make her the heart and soul of one of the most popular manga series ever published. She's a breath of optimism in a world that's often cruel and unpleasant for the likes of Keiichi--proof that somewhere out there, there still exist such things as innocence and purity.
Belldandy wasn't always like this, though. Back near the beginning of the manga, she was a lot more like a normal girl, in terms of the way she acted. Unlike the way she was portrayed in the first OAV, Bell was none too thrilled about having to live with Keiichi forever.
It's hard to imagine that, in her younger days, Bell used to get into a lot of fights with Urd. She was at times careless and impulsive, and often, poor Keiichi would get caught in the crossfire. In time, though, she grew and developed, and became more like the goddess we know today.
From an artistic standpoint, Bell wasn't always as beautiful as she is now. Back at the beginning of the manga, she had blue hair, and an oddly-shaped face that was, frankly, a bit homely. Her character design eventually caught up with the familiar one from the OAV, though, and finally surpassed it. The differences between the OAV and her current look in the American-released manga are subtle, but noticeable--she appears a bit more mature now, and perhaps a bit prettier as well.
Keiichi Keiichi Morisato is a student at the Nekomi Institute of Technology. As of volume VII of the manga, I an unsure of his exact age, but he is definitely somewhere between the ages of 18 and 22. He is somewhat short, and a bit less confident than he could be. He enjoys racing, and is a member of the Nekomi Tech Auto Club. Based on this information alone, one would assume that he is a pretty normal guy. And, for the most part, one would be right There is something, though, that makes Keiichi stand out from the crowd--namely, his personality. Keiichi, like his girlfriend Belldandy, is one of the nicest people ever to grace the world of anime and manga. There are a few other guys who share his geniality (Tenchi Masaki, along with Makoto Mizuhara of El Hazard Fame), but none of them are anywhere near as easy to relate to. The reason for this is a simple one: Keiichi has a measure of self-doubt that makes him very human. He is unsure of himself a lot of the time, and often worries whether Belldandy will decide to leave him.
Most of us can, to at least some extent, empathize with Keiichi's hopes, fears, and problems. Combine this with his willingness to face his dilemmas despite his doubts, and you end up with a hero who people can not only relate to, but also admire.
Like Belldandy, his appearance changes.

^_^ These are really interesting... I didn't start reading the AMG Manga from the beginning- only when the drawings improved. I started reading from the book "Childhood's End".. and forward. I really did not like how the characters looked from the start... where I started- the drawings are EXCELLENT! I'm glad it improved...hehehe... the manga is pretty good by the way, if anyone wants to buy them ;D I really recommend you buying it... It's very good. Lot's of funny parts, suspenseful bits, and there's always a twist in the story. The story is different too!

That story was romantic..teehee I think the drawing of Urd has definately improved!! But surprisingly the second pic of Skuld actually looks better than the recent one.

Yep, I'm REALLY glad the pictures improved. I think they kinda looked ugly. How could the artist improve so much? And what I love the anime most is the pictures and graphics.....

Oh Yea! The manga's awesome. I've never seen an episode of AMG before, so I rely on the manga. The art is fantastic. I dunno who the artist is though. Are the stories mainly the same as the anime?

I love the manga too!! In fact, in the anime only has 5 OVAs, and the Mini Goddess series...there isn't actual episodes for AMG. The story in the manga doesn't happen in the anime... but I think it's cool how they have the manga... the storyline is really good Well..the manga kind of continues from the OVAs.

But-- I think the first episode is a varied (modified) version of the first episode in the OVA..where Keiichi firstly meets Belldandy. In really basic terms, it's kind of the same, yet there are many difference to it too... I drawings of the manga at the beginning don't look very good I must admit.

Well, I wouldn't know, since I've never seen the first few manga books of Ah My Goddess. Cuz, they aren't mine. I borrowed them from somebody. And she didn't have the first few.

This anime is all thanks to the one and only Kosuke Fujisima. It all started when he was making a comic strip featuring the "You're Under Arrest" characters (an eariler anime he created- no I haven't seen it). In the strip the characters pray to a goddess statue. Fujisima was so pleased with how the goddess turned out that she became the basis for Bell and inspired the A!MS series. All these pictures are from the Dark Horse comics and aren't the original manga (ones that were put in each section of a jap magazine- in this case the "Afternoon" mag.) These are pretty good since the drawings are similar to the OVAs and in english. (can't find the original ones in english yet, anyone got one?) I haven't seen Lind featured in the Dark Horse Comics yet....
