Oh yes, that's right- Gilgamesh.
The Holy War thing didn't sound that appealing to begin with... cause so many people have to die and suffer because of it ANYWAY. But Gilgamesh is around... doesn't that mean his wish was granted? What was his wish? or was it his master's wish?
How come Saber couldnt stay with Shirou at the end?

Mkay lets see I'm a bit fuzzy on the details of the Holy Grail to be honest but from what I remeber the Grail needs a powerful medium to empower it to grant wished. Kinda like a magic battery, its meant to be Illya since she's actually a haemonculus. But if no ones around then it drains life of random people. I think. Bottom line its evil >.> but it grants wishes still.
Gilgamesh won the last war but I dont think his wish was granted properly but he gets to hand around being the winner. I think either that or we wished to be able to live forever. His master wished to destroy everything around him which was the explosion that Shirou was traumatised with.
As for Saber, well it follows the end of the first story arc in the game so Saber returns to her own time without the power of the grail around and decides to meet her destined fate. But I mean in the actually current plot line without the anime all the servants are around and Sabers still living with Shirou as well as most of the 'good' servants. So yeh. I guess basically its meant to be a bitter sweet ending. Kinda like Tsukihime also done by Typemoon where the female lead decides to depart from the male lead since they're worlds appart.

When you say the "actual plot" do you mean it's not really ended? Who else are considered the 'good' servants apart from Archer and Saber? If their masters are evil..servants are too, no?

Yeah Fate's still goin such as it were. Being based of a multi-ending games its hard to say what the 'real' plot line is, but at the end of it, it seems all the main characters are alive and hangin around together just chillin.
Well who's good and bad is open to debate, apart from the fact that anime is rarely that black and white to define 'good' and 'evil' these days. I suppose if I had to choose, Saber's quite clearly 'good' but she can turn into Dark Saber.
Archer's actually quite amoraled when it gets deeper into his personality, he believes that a balance is necessary and for every 'hero' that rises comes a 'villan' to match, therefore being neutral is best. However I guess he's a good guy in the end.
Rider appeared evil in the anime, but she's probably one of the most straight forward 'good' guys later on. Bit of a tragic past but overall she's good persay.
Same with Lancer he seemed evil in the anime but he's pretty much just an easy goin guy. He likes to fish and laze around, doesnt really care about moralities that much I think, but if you had to pick he'd be 'good'
Berserker is totally amoraled, he just does what Illiya wants pretty much so I guess he can be conisdered 'good' since Illiya's not really evil, just a somewhat bratty.
Assasin like Berserker just does what he's told, but he's not really that bad overall.
Caster's probably evil if you pick between the two, but she's less evil later and pretty much wants to just settle down and live a normal life with her master.
Kirei and Gilgamesh are probably the only blatantly evil characters. Though Gilgamesh is somewhat less evil.
If the masters are evil they can force their servants to do evil things. This may or maynot go against the servants peronality, but supposedly master and servants personalities tend to match.

thanks for informing ^^ I thought the part where you said "He likes to fish and laze around" about lancer was hilarious! I reckon they should make little OVAs of FSN in a "lite" version featuring just funny...stuff.. the anime is too series XD
